There are purchases that are unavoidable to make, but when you make it are the key. Much like anything else you look to purchase in life, you want to have a discount with a coupon, or at least be on sale, so why stop during the necessities, when those are probably most money so every little bit saved will help. If at all possible, there are purchases to try and avoid making during the summer months and save for the other points in the year when you can have significant savings.
Any Month Besides a June Wedding
Sure, July and August may be just as high as a June wedding, but if you are looking to plan your wedding and are limited to a budget, then you may have to re-think of when you need the date to be, otherwise you will have to strongly consider reducing your guest size or holding back on some of the entertainment. By getting married during the colder months such as November, when you still might get a few nice weekends in there, the winter is when you will especially save the most, but hey, at least you can have the reception with a hotel so guests can stay.
Pick and Choose Your Vacations
With the kids being out of school for summer vacation, there is certainly no shortage of travelers that are looking to get out of town, but unfortunately that means extremely high rates for waterfront rentals, but also gas and airfare spikes for traveling. Gas will reach its peak in June/July, so you can expect to pay at the pump. If you are looking for booking lodging though, be sure to check out the various travel sites in order to get the best deal with hopefully all of the competition out there.
Check for Outdoor Concert Discounts
Summer concerts sitting on the lawn at the amphitheater is one of the best memories of summer, especially if you can score a weekend show and get your friends together to rent a party bus, which is always a great time. There are so many shows and venues to fill, so before you spend face value on tickets, not to mention outrageous service charge fees that get added on top of tickets, you can check sites such as Groupon that offer deals with all fees included, or even scoring last-minute seats on StubHub that, depending on supply and demand, could be much lower than face value as well.
Cook at Home
Sure, it is nice to go out to a restaurant and be served, not having to worry about cooking or cleaning, but that comes with a premium price. Why go out and waste money when you can stay home, fire up the barbeque and crack open a cold beer while you wait for chicken, steak, ribs, pizza, or vegetables to finish cooking. Cooking outside also saves on your electric bill as well as the oven will not be sending out any additional heat to kick on you’re A/C.
