KC Awards: Weekly Recognition

September 24, 2011 by Justin

This is the Twentieth KC Awards weekly recognition of personal finance bloggers.  You may be curious about the recognition!  Each week, the Academy of Frugal Journalistic Writers will recognize some bloggers with the KC (pronounced casey) award.  What is the KC award?  First it is more symbolic than anything else.  What is the origin?

Nearly five hundred (500) years ago in The Netherlands (Holland), the word krant (Dutch) meant newspaper, journal, magazine, gazette, or periodical.  Interestingly, it still does!  In French, krant is courant which means informed on current affairs, up to date and knowledgeable. What are the Dutch known for?  Holland is the land of explorers, windmills, wooden shoes, pancakes, canals, dikes, levees, flowers (tulips), cheese, and great artists (Dutch Masters).  They are also known for their frugality!  The blog krantcents is a combination of a knowledgeable, current, newspaper, focusing on frugality.  Krantcents established the KC awards to recognize the best articles each week.

Rules: The selection of blogs is up to the committee of one established by krantcents as a representative of the Academy of Frugal Journalistic Writers. That committee can be influenced by meaningful comments, signing up for my RSS feeds, backlinks, links, trackbacks, Facebook Likes, Twitter, Retweets, Digg, StumbleUpon, delicio, Yahoo Buzz, Google Bookmarks and other social media.  If you plan on creating a single purpose political action committee (PAC) to buy advertising on my blog to solely influence the committee, please go ahead!  Please understand it will not influence the results.

This week the following personal financial blogs are recognized with a KC (pronounced casey) award:

MoneMamba – “Do You Respect Your Money?”

Moolanomy – “Why Dollar Cost Averaging Works Well in a Volatile Market”

My Journey to Millions – “When a Home Purchase Considered a Smart Investment?”

My Multiple Incomes – “The Ultimate Guide to Social Media Backlinks”

My Personal Finance Journey – “The Magic ( and limits) of Using Data to Guide Your Investment Decisions“

Feel free to leave meaningful comments and use social media to influence future selections.  Remember, check every week to see who was recognized at KC Awards weekly recognition.

Another great list KC. JT’s article is very interesting, a little controversial, but that is why blogging is so much fun.

Thanks, I like controversy, provocative and interesting!  I also like a different point of view that may go against the tide.  It makes me think!

You’re welcome, I think I am just like real estate and your different viewpoint.

Nice selection here.  Not that this has much to do with anything, but I find it kind of interesting that all the selected blogs have titles that begin with an M.  I realize there’s quite a lot of them (given that money begins with an M, you’d expect more than a few personal finance blogs to start with M), but still, I thought that was an odd coincidence.

It is no coincidence, I use my Google reader and troll for articles alphabetically. I d o this just to make it easier and more fair to everyone.
