How to Start a Home Based Business

How to Start a Home Based Business

November 19, 2010 by Justin

Are you looking for work?  Do you have a skill that people want?  Maybe now is the time to start a home based business.  In many cases, it requires little or no money.  What are you waiting for?  What business should you start?  Start with what you do well.  Maybe you are new college graduate who would be a teacher, except no one is hiring.  Since you have a degree and you like to teach, you should look into tutoring. Start out with schools, perhaps volunteering.  As you make connections, you will get some paying jobs.  All businesses are having difficulties and lay off a lot of different professions.  If you worked in a gym, you may be able to take that experience as a trainer to become a personal trainer.  You probably need a certification, but it is possible to take your experience and turn it into a home based career.

There are many experienced business people who during hard times become consultants.  They usually stop when a permanent position becomes available.  Now may be is the time to become your own boss.  Home based businesses range from web design, computer consultants, to the trades such as plumbers, electricians, carpenters, to construction, contractors, tax preparation, catering, wedding planner, carpet cleaning and child care.  All of these professions provide a service.  A natural home based business, because the service is performed at the customer or client site. What do you have to lose?  If you are working, start this on the side.  If you lost your job, start by networking.  This presumes that you are not trying to steal your former customers.

If you have a reputation in the industry, you will pick up customers just letting them know you are available.  If you are new to the industry, you will need to market your services to get customers.  Start with friends and family and network from those contacts.  This economy requires that you to think creatively!  Start today!  If you like this article, please subscribe.
