Every time I’ve looked for a job, it’s been different than the time before. Whether it be resume length, areas (like an Objective), requirements for submission, how to locate jobs, etc., it’s always different. It should be no surprise that social media is now so prevalent, given how that has interjected itself into so many aspects of our lives.
Resumes should always be accomplishment oriented (focused). Social media just gives you more access to people you may not know. Social media is one of the required skills in the work world!
Thanks for sharing! Some employers even let prospective employees apply to a job posting through LinkedIn, so I’ve been slowly revamping my LinkedIn account to make it more professional and appealing.
In this highly competitive environment, we need to use every possible solution.
I’ve tried using social media to find a job. I once landed a job through social media. What I do is just follow their social media accounts and wait for updates especially for job vacancies.
I found one from one of the updates and I sent them my resume through email. I was invited for an interview a week after sending my resume and the process continued, etc.
Luckily, the result is that I got the job.
Whenever you can find job openings before evrone else, you have a better shot at getting the job. Congratulations.
I have been offered quite a few jobs through social media. It surprised me the first time. I have been offered positions through LinkedIn, Facebook and twitter mostly.
Job hunting has definitely changed a lot since I first got a job!
The absolute best opportunities are when you are not looking or expecting anything!
I can say that using a social media in finding a job really plays a big role. I have lots of friends that found their job on social media, especially on Facebook, they saw a job posted on their and applied immediately.
It is the new form of networking! You cannot ignore the new technology or think it is just for social reasons.
I’ve read articles recently that have said most people connect with a new job through social media sites like LinkedIn. It’s a lot more commonplace now than it used to be.
Social media has made networking or connecting a lot easier.
I get a number of people contacting me through linked in. Prefer to keep Facebook for friends, although I do have a lot of current and former work associates on there.
The world is so small these days, it’s not surprising that these social media tools are being used this way. I’ve heard that anyone hoping to get hired in a police force should delete their Facebook account. Not gonna happen if you have one.
I find it interesting how social media is so much more than just keeping up with your friends.
I’ve had several friends who have found new jobs thanks to LinkedIn, it’s definitely becoming the more popular job search option.
Social media has become much more of a resource for job search and just linkedin.
