Friday Night Links Pinched Nerve Edition, Part Deux is a continuation of my previous post. For about three (3) weeks, I have been suffering with a pinched nerve. I wish I knew what I did that caused this because I would definitely make sure I would not do it again. Unfortunately, there was no glamorous story to lament for the injury. Is it due to age or something I have no control over?
I saw an Orthopedist last Friday and he sent me for an MRI. The cure was worse than the illness because I had to lay flat for 20-30 minutes. The pinched nerve is in my neck, so it is impossible for me to lay flat. Just having the MRI was so painful, I almost stopped it. That was last night and today I am paying for it! It was bad before, but I thought it was improving. Now I am in pain standing, sitting and sleeping is about the only time I am okay. Like I said the cure may be worse than the illness. I should find out the real cure in the next day or two.
Seriously, your health should never be taken for granted and it is more important than all your successes. It is difficult to enjoy those successes when you are in pain. This makes a good segue to today’s picks for Friday Night Links.

Thanks Larry for the link. Get well soon
You’re welcome, hopefully I will get therapy soon.
I’m sorry to hear you are suffering KC. Speedy recovery. We need to get you back on the bike ASAP.
Thanks, I miss riding as well as just being pain free.
I wouldn’t have guessed your pain would last this long. I hope the MRI offers some answers. Good luck.
Me too! I see my Orthopedist on Tuesday for the therapy/prognosis.
I agree…chronic pain can ruin the most well planned retirement. get well soon.
Thanks, I never experienced something like this before and hopefully never again.
Sorry to hear you are in pain, KC. Hang in there. They will get it figured out soon. You can always ask for pain meds in the meantime.
Thanks, I find out a longer term solution on Tuesday.
Ouch KC. Sorry to hear. Could you have tweaked your neck while sleeping? Maybe a new pillow or a different sleeping position? Get well soon!
Thanks for the good wishes! A little too much desk work in front of the computer and a bad chair probably contributed to it. I cured the bad chair today and I reduced the number of hours on the computer.
Thanks for the mention! Don’t you just hate it when you publicly announce “I’m doing great!” and then something happens. LOL. I don’t know if you remember my post sometime back where I was so stoked that I was able to go off my asthma medication and was on no medications? Darn if the stress I was going through didn’t finally wear me down and I felt like I was being “punished” for bragging. 🙂
I think this why your health is so important and can change in a minute. Another reason for good health insurance.
Sorry to hear that. I feel for you. When I had my disc herniation it was awful. It felt like a pinched nerve and the pain was really hard to bare. One thing that seemed to work for me was lots of stretching. I am not sure if it will help you or not. Might be worth a try.
Thanks, it turns out the pinched nerve in my neck and I am going for another opinion. My number one priority is to relieve the pain and then therapy.
