This is my 9 month goals update, since I made my 2012 New Year Resolutions. This is where I update you on how I am doing regarding my goals for 2012. I will give you a detailed progress report. I hate excuses because too many people use them to explain why they do not achieve their goals. So I will just explain what happened and leave it to you to decide.
Near the end of January, I sustained a pinched nerve. After visiting the orthopedist, I learned that I have degenerating disks in my neck. I had severe pain from this and supposed to have surgery this summer. Miracles happen because the nerves healed and the pain stopped five (5) months ago. I am on the mend, but not out of the woods. Next, Google decimates my Page Rank. That was my second knock down, but I am not out. So I am still standing, but a little dazed. It took six (6) months and I now have a Page Rank of three (3).
My 2012 New Year’s Resolutions are the following:
Volunteering – I want to volunteer two (2) hours a week. I am started volunteering once a month for a few hours in July. I enjoyed the experience and expect to keep it up. I decided to add more volunteering, this time with the Boys and Girls Clubs. I started by tutoring, but quickly realized it was not fulfilling for me. Instead I committed to teaching various workshops in interviewing, networking and personal finance.
Earn more income from my blog – I would like to average at least $2,000 per month net. January started out pretty well, February was less and March was just about zero. Thanks to Google, my goal missed by a lot. The second quarter was just about zero. I am working hard to rebuild my Page Rank and restore the income. With my Page Rank back, I think this will change.
Top 100 Personal Finance Blogs – I want to be part of the Top 100 Personal Finance Blogs. Thanks to my Page Rank issue, this is purely a wish. I applied for reconsideration with Google. So far, no news. This is proving to be more illusive than I realized. I think this will be a multi-year goal
Although I suffered a few setbacks, I am optimistic that I will not remain down. Fortunately, I found some of the best articles of the week. This makes a good segue to today’s picks for Friday Night Links.
The following articles caught my attention:
The Financial Blogger – Is Buying a Good Site a Good Investment?
The Passive Income Earner –Understanding a Reverse Mortgage
Thousandaire – 3 Reasons Buying a Home is More Than You Think
Watson Inc – Why You NEED Blow Money
The selection of blogs is up to the committee of one established by krantcents as a representative of the Academy of Frugal Journalistic Writers. That committee can be influenced by meaningful comments, signing up for my RSS feeds, backlinks, links, trackbacks, Facebook Likes, Twitter, Re-tweets, Digg, StumbleUpon, delicio, Yahoo Buzz, Google Bookmarks and other social media. If you plan on creating a single purpose political action committee (PAC) to buy advertising on my blog to solely influence the committee, please go ahead! Please understand it will not influence the results.
I read more than five hundred (500) articles a week and I highlight just five (5) in my Friday Night Links. Goals delayed, but not forgotten! Thanks for reading Friday Night Links New Year Resolutions Update Edition.
