I bought a new car! I feel as though I am just made a declaration at a support group to cure an addiction. I do feel better now that I got that out of the way, if it matters!. I did not take this decision lightly because I was thinking about it for a long time. My license plate tags were due in September, so that was my deadline! I decided to share my process and you can make up your own mind.
I owned my last car for seventeen (17) years and I needed to replace it! I thought about a late model luxury car, but decided it wasn’t worth it. I could not locate any used cars that were economical and inexpensive. In fact they were priced almost as much as a new car. I went with a new car that did not depreciate much and I got it for dealer invoice. I picked the most popular car that was in short supply, although that was a coincidence! Most dealers were starting at MSRP and adding $1-3,000!
I bought a new car discounted enough to reflect two to three years depreciation. I decided to finance it because my credit union offered me 1.99% for five (5) years. With that rate, I rather have my money working for me. It is a matter of choice! I can also identify the best or my favorite articles of the week. This makes a good segue to today’s picks for Friday Night Links.
The following articles caught my attention:
The Jenny Pincher – Did You Know?
Bogofdebt – Oh what a slippery slope…
Don’t Quite Your Day Job – Price Discrimination – and the Economics of Smaller Magazines.
Engineer Your Finances – Changing These Lifestyle Habits Can Save You Thousands Annually
Frugal Portland – Don’t pay annual fees!
The selection of blogs is up to the committee of one established by krantcents as a representative of the Academy of Frugal Journalistic Writers. That committee can be influenced by meaningful comments, signing up for my RSS feeds, backlinks, links, trackbacks, Facebook Likes, Twitter, Re-tweets, Digg, StumbleUpon, delicio, Yahoo Buzz, Google Bookmarks and other social media. If you plan on creating a single purpose political action committee (PAC) to buy advertising on my blog to solely influence the committee, please go ahead! Please understand it will not influence the results.
I read more than five hundred (500) articles a week and I highlight just five (5) in my Friday Night Links. I love my new car! Thanks for reading Friday Night Links New Car Edition.
