Much like anything you purchase, there are always better and worse times to buy the item. Some have better deals in the summer, others in the winter; the trick is just finding the sweet spot on when items are at their lowest. As the summer comes to a close, there are a few items that you should absolutely stay away from around this time and wait to purchase in the colder months that will save you a ton of money.
Clothes for the Colder Weather
As summer comes to a close, even starting in August, it is hard to find warm weather clothing anymore, even though there can still be another month or two of use. Back-to-school clothes commercials start to show up on every channel, and every kid wants to go shopping. Retailers charge top dollar for back-to-school clothes, and why not, parents will pay as the kids “have to” have new clothes to start the school year.
As you notice with all of the back-to-school clothes commercials come the school supplies. All parents begin to stock up on supplies at the end of summer before the school year, so retailers do not need to put these items on sale until the kids are already in school.
Tickets to Theme Parks
If you are thinking about going to a theme park with the kids are out of school you are not the only one. Demand during the summer months are at its highest, so try going during the school year, as the theme parks really only close in the winter months.
The end of the summer seems like a logical time to buy outdoor patio furniture as the weather will be cooling down in the upcoming months, but the truth is, it is still warm out and what I just mentioned; it will be cooling down in months, so retailers will not start putting patio furniture on sale until the fall and into winter when there is no time left to enjoy it outside.
You might think you need a new television to watch the start of the upcoming NFL season, but you should wait on upgrading. Deals on TV’s are pretty nonexistent during the summer and prices do not start to decrease until fall, when the deals are the best around the holiday season.
