The End of Google Reader is Tonight!

Next Monday, Google Reader is going away!   If you use Google Reader to accumulate your reading from the internet, you should change now.  If you do not know what I am talking about, you probably clicked on an icon to accumulate the blogs and online news through a reader delivered to you in one place.  There are alternatives for delivery of your web based information to you.

There are a number of options,  FeedlyBloglovn’ and The Old Reader are just a few.  I read a lot of blogs and articles online.  I tried both Feedly and Bloglivin’ and have not made a decision about which reader I will keep yet.   Bloglovin’ and Feedly help you keep track of the blogs you read by letting you know when they update.  I hope to count on you to continue receiving my articles without interruption. FeedBurner makes it easy to receive content updates in a variety of news readers .Go to Feedly or Bloglovin’ now and sign up!

I still don’t understand why google is getting rid of the reader. I’ve never read anything bad about it.

I think it is a question if it fits in their long term vision. Either way, it is going away tonight and you need a replacement.

I had to put up a similar note. I used to use google reader more than I do, but what I find to be silly is, how much effort does it really take to “maintain” the reader for google? I mean, this is a company with thousands of employees and it’s not exactly a dynamic, ever-changing environment. It’s just some code that’s up there to work with a couple primary browsers. It’s almost a lame attempt to push people to google plus in my opinion. But oh well, bye-bye reader…

What do you use? I am tryout out Feedly and Bloglovin’ and others. I will take my time to see which one I like best.

I have Bloglovin’ but I have to admit I always subscribe via email. I prefer it in my inbox. I’m so old-school I think.

I read about a hundred articles a day, the thought of 100 emails stops me.

The day has finally come. How did July get here so fast?! I never got into Google Reader, but I know a lot of people love RSS readers so it’s good there are so many free replacement options. I’m waiting to see a big change in my Feedburner source stats as I’m sure a lot of people will not transfer to a new reader.

I think it will take time, particularly the people who wait until the last minute to change.

Thanks for the reminder! Hopefully people have taken the time to change over.

You’re welcome! There are always laggards and I wanted to reach them before it goes away.

I wonder if google is going to replace google reader with anything else? They stopped providing google video when they bought out youtube, so maybe they are trying the same thing here. I guess we’ll have to wait it out and see.

That would be interesting! I don’t think they see a way of making money with a reader though.
