KC Awards: Weekly Recognition

Post image for KC Awards: Weekly Recognition

This is the second KC Awards Weekly Recognition of personal financial bloggers.  You may be curious about the recognition!  Each week, the Academy of Frugal Journalistic Writers will recognize some bloggers with the KC (pronounced casey) award.  What is the KC award?  First it is more symbolic than anything else.  What is the origin?

Nearly five hundred (500) years ago in The Netherlands (Holland), the word krant (Dutch) meant newspaper, journal, magazine, gazette, or periodical.  Interestingly, it still does!  In French, krant is courant which means informed on current affairs, up to date and knowledgeable. What are the Dutch known for?  Holland is the land of explorers, windmills, wooden shoes, pancakes, canals, dikes, levees, flowers (tulips), cheese, and great artists (Dutch Masters).  They are also known for their frugality!  The blog krantcents is a combination of a knowledgeable, current, newspaper, focusing on frugality.  Krantcents established the KC awards to recognize the best articles each week.

Rules: The selection of blogs is up to the committee of one established by krantcents as a representative of the Academy of Frugal Journalistic Writers. That committee can be influenced by meaningful comments, signing up for my RSS feeds, backlinks, links, trackbacks, Facebook Likes, Twitter, Retweets, Digg, StumbleUpon, delicio, Yahoo Buzz, Google Bookmarks and other social media.  If you plan on creating a single purpose political action committee (PAC) to buy advertising on my blog to solely influence the committee, please go ahead!  Please understand it will not influence the results.

This week the following personal financial blogs are recognized with a KC (pronounced casey) award:

Everyday Tips and Thoughts - “Tips for Setting Priorities and Getting the Right Things Done”

Len Penzo dot Com “14 ‘Dubious’ Personal Finance Moves It’s OK to Do”

Life and My Finances - “25 Ways to Save Money on Gas”

Wealth Artisan“Asset Protection:  Is Your Website Covered?”

Wealth Informatics - “Roth IRA for an Emergency Fund”

Feel free to leave meaningful comments and use social media to influence future selections.  Remember, check every week to see who was recognized at KC Awards weekly recognition.

Ahhh I didn’t know what “Krant” meant :)   I didn’t know that the Dutch were frugal by nature.  I have a colleague of mine who is FANTASTIC with her money.  She maxes out her RRSP’s every year, she doesn’t ever buy lunches and always brings them, and is always laid back.  All in all amazing person :)

Did you ever hear the phrase “going Dutch or Dutch treat?” If you haven’t, it means each person pays for their own meal. Many of those suggestions were strategies I figured out over the years. The important part is investing the savings!

Very cool idea. I like this new series. I didn’t know what krant meant either so thanks for clarifying.
