What is SOPA? SOPA is Stop Online Piracy Act. SOPA is anti piracy bill in Congress. There is another similar bill called Protect IP Act (PIPA) which gives the entertainment business the right to block websites. Both bills give the owners of Intellectual property the ability to block a website that violates copyright laws to be pulled from various sites like Google, and others. Could this be abused?
The simple answer is yes! Owners can have internet service providers block the website as well. The owners can do all this without going to court. The intent of the bill is to stop piracy, but it can be used to block content. It is a form of censorship. Although the internet is in its infancy, blocking content is a slippery slope. Censorship by government, companies or individuals is wrong. Do you want your information on the internet censored? Make sure you let your Congressman or Senator know your feelings.
Censorship is wrong! There is a better solution to protect lawful content, censorship is not. Friday Night Links: SOPA Edition will highlight some of this week’s articles. Access to good personal finance articles is a great segue to today’s picks for Friday Night Links.

Thanks for posting on SOPA!
Although protests have their place, I am in favor of proactive solutions. Contact your Congressman or Senator an let them know how you feel about censorship.
I’m glad this bill is on “hold” for an indefinite period. I’m hope it never gets passed. I like my internet content natural, unfiltered, organic.
I hate censorship! This bill could easily be abused by the owners of interlectual property.
Glad you mentioned SOPA, KC. The more, the better!
Thanks, I hate censorship!
I saw a handful of website go dark in protest. Thanks for the heads up on SOPA!
Going dark seem to work, however I would rather see a rallying cry for everyone to call, write or email their Congressman and Senator regarding SOPA/PIPA to tell them how they feel about it.
