Do something is the most important phrase you will ever learn!  Do anything is similar, but different.  Something is one of a few choices you would make.  Anything implies an infinite set of possibilities.  If you are not doing something, you are doing nothing.  If you are trying to lose weight, do something!  If you want more money, do something!   If you are unhappy with your life, do something!

When faced with a problem, doing nothing is not a choice!  Procrastination is doing nothing. The problem does not go away because you ignore it.  In many cases it gets worse.  If you do not have a budget, do you think you can reach your financial goals?  Maybe!  If you do not write down your goals and develop a plan to achieve them, do you think you will achieve them?  Maybe!  Can you lose weight without doing something?  No!  Einstein said the definition of insanity is: “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Don’t bother telling me all your excuses for not doing something.  You would be wasting your time!  Think about what you want to achieve and do something now.  No excuses, just do it.  I am going to do something right now.  I chose the best or my favorite articles of the week.  This makes a good segue to today’s picks for Friday Night Links.

The following articles caught my attention:

Mighty Bargain Hunter  A game-changing bargain in primary education

Miss Thrifty Thrifty Baby:  Disposable Nappie? Pah!

Money Beagle  Have You Thought About Life Insurance Lately?

Money Talks  – Saving for Retirement is Like Going on a Road Trip

Money Crush  Your Financial Life Script

The selection of blogs is up to the committee of one established by krantcents as a representative of the Academy of Frugal Journalistic Writers. That committee can be influenced by meaningful comments, signing up for my RSS feeds, backlinks, links, trackbacks, Facebook Likes, Twitter, Re-tweets, Digg, StumbleUpon, delicio, Yahoo Buzz, Google Bookmarks and other social media. If you plan on creating a single purpose political action committee (PAC) to buy advertising on my blog to solely influence the committee, please go ahead! Please understand it will not influence the results.

I read more than five hundred (500) articles a week and I highlight just five (5) in my Friday Night Links.  Just do it!  Thanks for reading Friday Night Links Do Something Edition.

I’ve been trying to get a lot done lately. When I procrastinate nothing gets done. Setting goals helps me to get something done and as a result I have been procrastinating much less lately.

I use lists to keep me on track. It gives me the discipline to accomplish more.

Yeah. You will get further by just moving and thinking about it later.

you may cringe at some of your mistakes early but not nearly as much as if you never tried.

Do you think planning paralysis is a big issue?

Krantcents July 6, 2012 at 12:11 pm

Some people get stuck in the planning stage and never leave it. I know a few people who say they want to have their own business, but never act on it. Is it analysis (planning) paralysis? Maybe! I find by trying (doing) things I reduce frustration, stress and get more done. Some people are afraid of risk and remain in the planning stage. It is easier and safer to just plan, but you will never get it done.

I love Nike quotes. My current favorite is: “Feel the fear and do it anyway.” Have a great weekend!

I wonder who thinks those up? That is a good one. I remember a nervous moment when I had to meet a large group of people. I took a deep breath and just went for it. I think if you over think it you can talk yourself out of it.

Great inspirational post. Love that Einstein quote about doing the same thing over and expecting a different result. In the past, I did a whole lot of nothing and covered it with excuses. No more. Thanks for the reminder!

I must be “inspire”d! 🙂 I am goal oriented and when I am not progressing I get frustrated. When frustrated, any action relieves my frustration. Hence, do something mantra!

I find that when I am filled with energy, I have this desire to multitask. It seems I get a lot done when I am in this mode. Sure there are days when my batteries run low, but these are seldom. I know most moms are the same, by force of (habit?) necessity, is more like it.

I try to use an outside source to motivate me. There are many things I do not want to do, but a list keeps me on target. I get satisfaction from crossing it off the list.
